BBVA’s Expansion in the Technological Market of America
BBVA has made the decision to move its technology center, BBVA Technology, to the American continent, with the aim of providing technological services to its businesses in different countries in Latin America. This new unit located in America will have around 600 employees and will be based in Mexico City.
BBVA Technology – Divisions in America and Europe
In America, BBVA Technology is born from the integration of several technological companies that were part of BBVA Axial, and will be led by Robert Altes. On the other hand, in Europe, the corresponding subsidiary will operate from Spain, under the direction of Ricardo Jurado. This European company was formed by merging BBVA Next Technologies, BBVA IT España, and Datio, with an approximate total of 3,000 employees.
Innovation in Software Development and STEM Professionals
BBVA has established innovation in software development as one of its fundamental strategic priorities. Currently, the group has around 22,000 professionals with STEM training worldwide, which is equivalent to 19% of its workforce. This figure includes over 16,000 software developers alone in the year 2022.
